Ongoing Projects

I had hoped that before the year was out that I would have completed some of my ongoing projects, well actually if I am honest at one stage I wanted to have them all completed LOL! But a more realistic me thought maybe some.....

Here is one of my still uncompleted projects from Heidi Swapp

We made this fantastic banner in the Retailers class on the Friday night. Very simple when you break it all down, so very elegant when you put it all together....

So what is it made of?
Yep thats it, you start with the Heidi xlarge playing cards (trying to get more stock in) and using the Dream dining Room, Bling and a bit of this and that, then throw in a whole new way of looking at the products and you finish up with this gorgeous banner.

Mine has another layer to go yet, hopefully early in the new year :)

Another one of my ongoing projects is my December Daily album. Now partly I have an excuse for this one not being finished - the month isnt finished yet. However I am going to be very honest here and say that this is one that won't be finished quickly, the reason is because I am enjoying the process so so much!

I am going to share here but before I do I just want to put this disclaimer in, I am not using rules of design, I am not using all acid free (gasp horror) I am using all the bits and floatsom that come along in the month. And it has been so free and easy to do.

this is the title page, it is made with Tim Holtz masks and Distress ink and Kaiser stamps and Kindy glitz. Very much inspired by Heidi..
All of the numbers for the days so far have come from the Making Memories Fa La La, Number paper. Not sure what I am going to do for days 26-31 will have to come up with something clever ;)

Am using the Days of the Week stamp by Scenic Paper Route Co, Just so cute!

And as I said I am in no hurry to finish this project, just enjoying the process.....

December Catch up

Well December arrived in a rush, and has been jammed packed with events, laughter, Friends, Family and head colds!.

On the home front, Sam received an award at the Principals assembly always a thrill and Jesse received his HSC results and UAI mark and has been offered an early acceptance into the course he wants to study. So everyone seems happy with their results for the year.

I spent an amazing few days in Brisbane with two wonderful women as my traveling companions, Sharon and Marilyn.

I don't think I have ever laughed so much and been so at ease as I was with these two co conspirators of mine. But the best part was we were there to see Heidi Swapp!

I had been told before I left that Heidi was a friendly person, but nothing could prepare me for just how warm her personality is. And I learnt so much! things that I thought I knew how to do I got a whole new perspective on. I will be posting some photos soon of a couple of the things we did and wait till you see them so totally cool!

So why don't I have the photos to post now, well its like this somewhere on the plane back or while we were waiting an eternity at the airport for our plane (something about a plane and a duck, and the duck didn't win, but did hold us up for hours!) I managed to get a whopper of a head cold, no voice and throbbing head mean I haven't taken the photos yet. All I wanted for Christmas this year is some antibiotics and a good lie down LOL!

While in Brisbane we also spent a day with Lynette Carroll from K & Co. Now any one who knows Marilyn will know that she is a K & Co die hard. She was in her element. I love the way Lynette takes things and changes them up. Here is a bit of a peek of the album that we made

So as you can see December certainly has been a jammed packed month, and we still have almost a week to go!

Now for those of you who have been watching your letter boxes waiting for a Christmas Card from us this year, well I need to explain, remember the mention of head colds..... the cards are made, see...

 

and after all isn't it the thought that counts ? 

Now even though we had a few people missing we did manage this Christmas Card and it is sent with Joy to all of you....

Woman on a mission....

Don't get in my way I am a woman on a mission! or to be more exact a woman who made up her mind to do a project and got organised, well sort of, and was all hyped up.

What am I talking about?. Well I decided that I would do an Ali Edwards inspired idea and do a daily album for the month of December......

Got the stamp, actually it was this stamp that got me started its so cool, I just want to play...

So cool! love it, the words and the 'daily routine' really got me in, I know that there will be highlights to the days but there is also all that stuff that goes on in the background and I want to use that as a heading each day. You can find the stamp here

My plan (mission) is to create this as an accurate reflection of December 2008 in our house hold. I have not pre-created my album pages, I want to get everything collected and then start on some. Not sure about papers yet, I am really loving the Fancy Pants ranges here, and also some of this Making Memories range here. I want to incorporated lots of the things that I already have and that's one of the reasons that I decided that an 8 x 8 size would be good, I can use up some of the scraps in my basket.

The other preconceived ideas I had were that I would take a photo each day to symbolise the day and the tags will be used throughout my album.

So one woman with a mission, all of this thought process went on in November.

My sister rang me the last week of November and we arranged for her to come here for lunch on the first of December. Great I thought that's my first photo opportunity!

Ok, now here is where it all went horribly wrong. My cameras batteries died, ok use the replacement batteries. They were not charged either! So while my batteries charged (both sets) my sister and I had a lovely time and I waved her off and then remembered that I had not taken the photo. Here it was the first day of my mission and already I had screwed it up LOL!

But I am not going to be deflected, this album is going to happen and this is the first photo I am going to use....

He didn't actually make it into December, he was born on the 29th November. Who is he?, well he is my sisters first grandchild and until yesterday he had no name but he now is Joshua. And it is apt that he symbolises the first of December because my sister and I talked quite a bit about him. She is a very proud grandmother and rightly so! Welcome baby Joshua!

So now I am back on track, I have some ordinary photos and some of the highlights and we are only up to day 5!

This is todays photo, I may have to edit it a bit before I print it but its a definite highlight photo....

Just look at the expression on his face! Vice sports captain. Well done my boy!

The other project that I am sort of getting together is things for a calendar, I did this one last year

it sits quietly in its place and I see it when ever I enter the house. This is where it sits, at the moment it is inundated with Santa Hats LOL!

I want to do one again for next year but wanted it to be a little bit different, I am collecting affirmations and I am going to have one on each month.

There is a great site here, that has affirmations and I love it! I go there each day and so I decided that it would be good to see them in front of me for the month, really let the sentiment be with me.... so thats the other plan. We will have to see how that goes ( I am currently going back over this years photos and selecting one from each month to go on the calendar) I take way too many photos, and I take way not enough photos kwim?
