Happy International Card Making Day!

Did you know that today is International Card Making Day? So I am planning an afternoon of card making after all that is what you are suppose to do today and really I have not seen any notice that it is National Clean your house day!!

As I have said before I am a scrapbooker first and cardmaker second, but am definitely coming around. I love to receive hand made cards, it is so nice that some one thinks enough of you to make a card especially for you - thank you PeaBee....

Are you going to fit some cardmaking into your day today?

Some times in life we meet people for one reason and they finish up teaching us something completely different, and that is what happened to me with my son Jesse's girlfriend Renee. She is an absolute treasure of a girl, funny, bright and gorgeous. She has always made it clear to me that she is not, and I repeat NOT a scrapbooker. So she is not a scrapbooker but she is one of my hero's!

Renee has just turned 17 and shortly after this milestone she received news that turned our lives upside down and showed us just the caliber of person she is. You see Renee was diagnosed with cancer, in a matter of days she was undergoing major surgery. Renee is the most upbeat person you will ever meet. She joked about her scar, was up and running around within days.

In fact the only thing I saw her get down about was that she was missing school!

So why am I sharing this story with you today? Well Renee wanted to thank her nurses and doctors for the care they were giving her during her Chemo sessions. So this non scrapbooker spent the day with me and made a total of nine thank you cards all tailor made for each special person.

Reneescards

Renee chose each patten with care, 'this doctor likes blue' 'this nurse likes flowers' etc. Each of these cards were made with love and a genuine need of this fine young woman to be able to say "thank you for all the care you give me"

So not a scrapbooker but definitely a fine card maker and definitely one of my hero's!

The best part of this is that last Tuesday Renee got the news that we had all been praying for - she is free of cancer, in fact she doesn't even have to go for the last session thank goodness.

So a big thank you to all the people who have been keeping her in your thoughts and prayers and a special thank you to the wonderful nurses who even worked extra time so that she could still attend her graduation!

Have a think about the people who cross your path on a daily or weekly basis, is there someone there who would love to receive a hand made card? Well today is the day to make it!

Remember if you need more inspiration check out PeaBee's Gallery, she is awesome at making cards!

Hugs
